Dear FibroFighters Community,

Every October, we unite for Fibrolamellar Cancer Awareness Month – a time to spotlight Fibrolamellar Carcinoma (FLC), a rare and oftentimes aggressive liver cancer that must be treated as its own entity, not grouped with other liver cancers. After years of working with patients, we’ve seen how late diagnoses and limited understanding impact lives. Awareness is more than a word, it drives research toward better treatments, empowers patients, and brings hope to families.

At FibroFighters Foundation, we are committed to serving patients and families affected by this disease. Here are some recent accomplishments we are excited to share with the community:

  • We reached our 600th case discussed in our biweekly tumor board discussions.
  • Nagourney Lab expands our Functional Profile testing by adding Fibrolamellar metabolic testing.
  • Natera launched a new ctDNA panel now in use for our patients.
  • A modified BostonGene Tumor Portrait to be available by year-end.
  • Our Medical Director, Dr. Paul Kent and his team, is collaborating on key research papers and abstracts.

We remain steadfast in our mission to

  • Advocate for patients and caregivers with proven strategies for better outcomes.
  • Educate the global community and medical professionals.
  • Fund programs that expand treatment options, including our International Tumor Board, BostonGene Tumor Portraits, Signatera ctDNA monitoring, and Nagourney functional drug profiling assays.

So, join us this month in spreading awareness! Share stories, participate in events, and support or create campaigns like #OurPromise4Fibro. We are stronger together as a community, combing our collective knowledge, resources, and passions to slay the fibrolamellar beast together!

Sincerely,

Tom Stockwell
